EPI was established in 1986 as the first organization to focus on and broaden the discussion about economic policy of low- and middle-income Americans and their families. Today it is as crucial as ever that people who work for a living have a voice in the economic debate. EPI adheres to strict standards of sound, objective research and analysis, and couples its findings with outreach and popular education.
The Center for Economic and Policy Research promotes democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people's lives. For citizens to effectively exercise their voices they should be informed about the choices they face. CEPR is committed to presenting issues in an accurate and understandable manner, so that the public is better served.
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is one of the nation’s premier policy organizations working at the federal and state levels on fiscal policy and public programs that affect low and moderate income families and individuals. The Center conducts research and analysis to inform public debates over proposed budget and tax policies and to help ensure that the needs of low income families and individuals are considered in these debates. We also develop policy options to alleviate poverty.
The Center for Popular Economics is a collective of political economists. Since our founding in 1978, thousands of people have participated in our workshops and institutes. Our programs and publications simplifies the economy and put useful economic tools in the hands of people fighting for social and economic justice. CPE is about forging links between seemingly isolated issues so that groups working for progressive change can understand the common threads that run through all of our specific concerns.
